Hypnobirthing Courses in Suffolk
Prepare for a calm, confident and genuinely positive birth, taught one to one in Woodbridge, Ipswich and across East Suffolk.
Hypnobirthing is not about floating serenely through labour with your eyes shut. It is about understanding what is happening in your body, having practical tools that work under pressure, and knowing enough to make decisions rather than simply receive them.
I teach it one to one, which means the whole course bends around you and your birth partner instead of a room full of strangers. Whether this is your first baby or you are hoping for a very different experience this time, we start where you are.
What hypnobirthing actually is
Two things, mostly. The first is education. When you understand the physiology of labour, what your uterus is doing, what the hormones are for, why fear physically slows things down, birth stops being a frightening unknown and starts being a process you can work with.
The second is relaxation. Practised, deliberate relaxation that keeps your body out of fight or flight, because adrenaline and oxytocin do not get along. The breathing techniques and guided relaxations are simply the mechanism for getting there, and they are easy enough to remember that they survive contact with an actual labour.
There is no requirement to believe anything in particular.
Plenty of people arrive fairly sceptical and leave using it anyway.
What you'll learn
- How your body works during labour and birth, and why that matters
- Breathing techniques for comfort, focus and staying in control
- Deep relaxation and guided meditation to reduce anxiety
- How to let go of fear built up from other people’s stories
- Practical comfort measures and positions for labour
- How your birth partner can genuinely support you, with a real job to do
- Your choices and options, and how to ask the right questions
- Creating a calm birth environment wherever you give birth
- Preparing for the birth you want and the ones you have not planned for
Who it is for
This course tends to suit you if you are nervous or unsure about birth, if you want to feel calmer and better prepared, if you are hoping for a positive experience after a difficult first one, or if you want your birth partner properly involved rather than standing there wondering what to do with their hands.
It works for any kind of birth. Home, hospital, birth centre, induction, caesarean. Hypnobirthing supports all birth choices, and nothing here is designed to push you towards one.

The difference it makes
Parents tell me the change is mostly in how they feel walking into it. Less fear, more curiosity. A sense that they understand what is going on and can ask for what they need. Better conversations with midwives and doctors. Birth partners who know exactly what their role is.
None of that guarantees a particular kind of birth, and I would be suspicious of anyone who told you it did. What it does reliably change is how prepared and how in control you feel, whichever way the day goes.
“My husband and I did not know the journey that lay ahead, but with Jasmine’s gentle encouragement, incredible knowledge and love for what she does we felt like we were in the safest hands possible. We had an incredibly positive induction, knowing knowledge is power and felt confident in making each decision along the way.”
Sophie, first time mum
“I can’t recommend Jasmine’s hypnobirthing course enough. I completed Jasmine’s course during my second pregnancy, I had completed a hypnobirthing course during my first birth however it did not compare to Jasmine’s course. I had a really positive birth, even more so second time thanks to this course and the knowledge and confidence Jasmine gave me.”
Fenella, Hypnobirthing
“Jasmine is a professional and relatable hypnobirthing teacher. She does not rush you, listens to your unique needs and explains things thoroughly. Her techniques are easy to remember, which is what you need in labour, and her manner is kind, reassuring and most of all calming.”
Debbie Burrell, Hypnobirthing
Common questions
Do I have to believe in hypnosis for hypnobirthing to work?
No. Most of the course is understanding how labour actually works and learning breathing and relaxation that keep your body out of fight or flight. The self hypnosis element is really just deep, practised relaxation. You do not need to believe anything in particular for it to be useful.
Is hypnobirthing only for people planning a natural birth?
Not at all. It supports every kind of birth, including induction and caesarean. The tools are about staying calm and making informed decisions, and those matter just as much in theatre as they do in a birth pool.
When should I book?
Most people start somewhere between 25 and 35 weeks, which leaves time to practise without it feeling like a rush. Courses can be taught earlier or later though, and a refresher works well in the last few weeks.
Does my birth partner need to come?
They are very welcome and it makes a real difference. A birth partner who knows what is happening and what to do is one of the most useful things you can take into a birth room. If they genuinely cannot attend, the course still works and I will give you ways to bring them up to speed.
Do you teach online?
Yes, over Zoom worldwide. In person courses run within about fifteen miles of IP13, which covers Woodbridge, Melton, Ipswich, Framlingham, Wickham Market and the villages around them.
How much does it cost?
The full one to one eight hour course is £400. The refresher workshop is £150. Everything includes a welcome pack, workbook, relaxation MP3s, birth plan templates and WhatsApp support up to birth.
